EVO Ultra Stretch
Machine direction orientation (MDO) in the haul-off for recyclable All-PE packaging
EVO Ultra Stretch is a Reifenhäuser stretching unit for blown film lines which, with a stretch ratio of up to 1:10, raises the properties of PE films to PET level. It makes it possible to produce fully recyclable mono-material All-PE pouches with an oxygen and water vapour barrier, suitable for food.

Description
Flexible packaging, such as stand-up pouches for soap, cereals or pet food, is usually made from a combination of PE and PET, which severely limits recyclability. The EVO Ultra Stretch process improves the properties of PE films to such an extent that they can replace PET in the laminate – creating a fully recyclable mono-material laminate, the All-PE-Pouch.
Thanks to the patented position of the unit directly in the line's haul-off, the film is stretched (machine direction orientation, MDO) at the ideal moment using its primary heat, without costly reheating. The process is therefore energy-efficient and very stable.
Stretching doubles the barrier effect of EVOH, so its proportion can be reduced to below 5% while maintaining the barrier – a basic prerequisite for the recyclability of flexible packaging. At the same time, PE raw material consumption is reduced.
