Dynisco's innovative Vertex melt pressure transducer matches or even exceeds the performance of a traditional transducer. The big differences are that Vertex is more robust, much faster and significantly more environmentally friendly. The direct-measurement tip has a simple, elegant design with a more robust diaphragm. Direct process measurement reduces errors transmitted through complex internal support structures, transmission fill materials or moving push rods. Diaphragm thickness depends on the pressure range and can be up to 7.5 times thicker than in a traditional transducer. Add a diaphragm made of Inconel 718 coated with corrosion- and abrasion-resistant Dymax®, and you have the true definition of a robust sensor that demonstrably extends sensor life and significantly reduces its cost of ownership. The innovations in the Vertex design also concern the sensor's response speed. Faster processes and control require faster sensor measurement. Vertex is many times faster than traditional sensors, improving real-time production.
Environmental regulations and corporate responsibility are driving sustainability policies and programmes in companies large and small. Reducing waste streams and extending service life is good for both the environment and the budget. There is no mercury, no NaK, no oil, no gallium – no fill material of any kind. Vertex is also RoHS compliant. Vertex transducers are designed to work with universal pressure indicators. HART digital communication is available for more extensive diagnostics and remote configuration. An optional type J or K thermocouple is available, providing a melt temperature signal as well as a 4–20 mA temperature output. Vertex has a 1/2-20UNF thread for installation in standard transducer mounting holes. An adapter is also available for installing 1/2-20UNF units in button-seal applications. Where washdown capability is required for food or medical applications, a sealed welded housing and electrical connection are available (not available if the TCx thermocouple option is selected).
