The PT46x4 series pressure transducer is a ±0.5% transducer, ideal for general-purpose melt pressure measurement requiring simple installation, repeatability and reliability. The PT46x4 provides an industry-standard amplified 4-20 mA signal designed to work with DCS and PLC systems. The PT46x4 features adjustable zero and span via side-mounted potentiometers. PT46x4 series mA transducers can be zeroed in two ways: locally using the zero potentiometer, or remotely by shorting two pins (contact closure). Optional configurations with a thermocouple or resistance thermometer are available to provide melt temperature.
The PT46x4 has a 1/2-20UNF thread for simple and easy installation in standard transducer mounting holes. The 4-20 mA output signal is rated PL'c' as described in the Machinery Directive EN ISO 13849-1. PT46x4 series mA transducers are self-certified on the basis of assessment reports from the respected external agency exida™. PT46X4 series mA transducers have undergone an extensive FMEDA (Failure Mode Effects and Diagnostic Analysis). The FMEDA reports show that these transducers have been assessed for random failure requirements and meet both performance level "c" (PL'c) and safety integrity level SIL2 (Safety integrity level SIL2). The information in the FMEDA report can be used by the customer's system designer as part of the overall qualification of the equipment in the system to meet PL'c' or SIL requirements. The PT46x4 series can be fitted with a safety relay, separate from the signal output. This optional signalling relay, called Guardian, has an application-specific pressure threshold setting that puts the machine into a safe state, as described in the Machinery Directive EN ISO 13849-1.

PT4634 – Melt pressure transducers – Combined transducers with rigid stem, flexible capillary and temperature sensor
Combined pressure transducers with a flexible capillary are a professional solution for applications with limited space or exposure to radiant heat from the heating elements of production lines. Thanks to the well-thought-out extended design, the transducer electronics are located away from the source of radiant heat, reducing the risk of damage.
These transducers are also fitted with a temperature sensor, and the customer can choose the sensor type: a type J or K thermocouple or an RTD (Sensor RTD). With a compatible temperature sensor selected, the customer also obtains the melt temperature from a single process connection, which increases the efficiency and accuracy of measurement.
The flexible capillary is designed to resist damage and allow a high degree of bending, which makes installing and handling the transducer easier. The transducer head must be properly secured in the bracket supplied with the transducer. For optimum performance, we recommend mounting the bracket on a part of the machine that is free from unwanted vibration or shocks that could adversely affect the transducer.
The rigid stem length and the flexible capillary length can be adapted to individual needs, as can other optional components. This ensures maximum flexibility when integrating the transducer into a wide range of industrial applications.
