Description
The size of the screen changer and the number of pistons are adapted to the specific application according to the polymer type, melt viscosity, reactor output and filtration fineness. The patented design allows the use of pleated micronex® filter candles with fibre metal felt (FMF) media or cylindrical Multinex filter candles with replaceable filter sleeves.
The robust, leak-free design meets the highest quality requirements and is based on the proven two- or four-piston design, which operates reliably without additional seals. On the inlet side, rheologically optimized channels distribute the melt stream evenly to 2 or 4 pistons. Downstream of the filter candles, the cleaned partial streams are recombined and leave the filter housing as a single polymer stream.
MAAG large-area screen changers can be installed for vertical or horizontal melt flow directly on the reactor discharge gear pump or on the booster gear pump upstream of the pelletizer. Direct connection to other process components without additional piping ensures the shortest possible line length and melt residence time between the extruder or reactor and the pelletizer.
