LMI 6000 Auto Cut
Melt flow indexer for MFR and MVR measurement with automatic sample cutting
The LMI 6000 is a next-generation melt flow indexer (an instrument for measuring the melt flow index) from Dynisco. With illustrated instructions directly in the software, semi-automatic test procedures and several data acquisition options, you can verify material properties more easily than ever before – before the material enters production.
The Auto Cut version is equipped with automatic sample cutting at preset time intervals for Methods A and A/B – sampling is consistent and independent of the operator.

Description
MFR, MVR and intrinsic viscosity measurement
Melt mass-flow rate (MFR), melt volume-flow rate (MVR) and intrinsic viscosity (IV) are key parameters for how a material behaves during processing and for the properties of the finished product. They cannot be judged by eye, and the actual values may differ from those given in the material data sheet.
The LMI 6000 performs tests to Methods A, A/B, B, C and D (Method D is only available with the automatic weight lift). Intrinsic viscosity (IV) can also be determined using a modified Method B procedure.
Whether you are a manufacturer, recycler, researcher or quality control professional, the LMI 6000 lets you verify that a material meets the required specification and track differences between individual polymer batches.
Enhanced performance
The LMI 6000 represents a new generation of instruments offering greater user comfort, easier operation and improved performance. Features include a larger, repositionable touchscreen, an upgraded hardware architecture and software automation that starts the test procedure at the press of a single button.
Advanced software
Tests can be performed with manual weight loading or with the optional electromechanical automatic weight lift, which allows simultaneous testing on several instruments. Once the barrel has been charged with a small amount of material, the instrument carries out most of the measurement without the operator being present.
Automatic loading and removal of the weights improves operator safety, as operators no longer have to handle heavy weights repeatedly, and also improves measurement accuracy and repeatability.
Ergonomics and operation
The new hardware architecture provides faster response and smoother operation of the user interface. A dedicated power button shuts the instrument down safely – all measured data is saved first and only then is the power disconnected.
The larger touchscreen on the side of the instrument can be mounted on the left or right and adjusted in height to suit the operator. The side position also reduces the risk of damage to the display should a weight be dropped.
Options
Digital encoder – measures piston displacement with very high accuracy in tests to Methods A/B and B.
Automatic sample cutting – cuts samples at preset intervals in tests to Methods A and A/B and can also cut the sample at the end of the preheat time, regardless of the test method. Sampling is therefore more consistent and repeatable than with manual cutting.
Auto-Lift automatic weight lift – an electromechanical system for loading and removing weights that requires no compressed air supply, only electrical power. It is available for a single weight or for a multiple-weight set and offers a higher level of automation, better ergonomics and improved operator safety.
